We still really can't grasp that so many people have given us gifts and love for the little one to come - both from Denmark and the US - how blessed is our little princess with so many wonderful people in her life all ready on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean ---- AGAIN THANK YOU ALL!!!

Babymoon

Well now with school out and nothing but birth ahead I can make a post that I have wanted to share for a while - our babymoon!

People say you should go on a babymoon before the baby comes - like a honeymoon - the last time in a long time where mom and dad can spend a little alone time. Martin planned the trip in our 4th-of-July vacation and even getting in the car I didn't know where we were going. We went north and stayed at San Ynez Inn, which were beautiful and quiet just what we needed - and the mom got to Solvang and had Danish leverpate - and to Santa Barbara and had Danish leverpate once more... After a lot of relaxation and heavy eating we returned, and the doctor was very very impressed with how much I had manage to gain in two weeks --- and I have had to exercise a bit more in the following weeks ha ha...

Picking out stuff!!!

Well time is getting closer - and this picture is from one of our many (many many) trips (this one back in July) trying out babygear, picking it apart, testing, and trying... With the mom having a PT background knowing about infant development and the dad having a brain of an engineer everything gets picked to pieces and tested, and hard choices are being made. Good thing we are not decorating a nursery or we might not have it done till she leaves for college... But we have fun, and she will be here so soon!

Overwhelmed - THANK YOU!

Wow - This morning I (Maja) started just sitting on the floor surrounded by all these thoughtful presents and have a little happy cry! When we moved half around the World, we had not in our wildest dreams imagined finding so many sweet friends and be surrounded with all this love.

Thank you all for being a part of our little new ones life and for all the amazing thoughtful presents - It was such an amazing baby shower! Thank you!

Family visit from Denmark

We just had the most wonderful time with my brother, his wife, and three kids - they borrowed bogie boards from the sweet neighbors and had a blast - however, I walked and played a lot more than usual (didn't get in the water though) - but I am still not walking or standing very well, guess I forgot I was 8 months pregnant...

We saw the doctor today, and she said everything is fine - the babygirl has turned her head down - ready to get out - and I just need to learn to relax ;) Which was easy today as I am finishing my final paper for my writing class - Hurraaa! But miss my Main Street walks, hope I will be more walkable next week again :)

Smoke?

Ha ha ha did anyone see the wet pregnant lady claiming a chair in a towel??? Just as I got shampoo into my hair and Martin had left for Santa Monica our smoke detector went off and not just the little bibs telling you it is out of battery, but fully alarm mode - so I thought I better get out of the shower! There were no smoke, luckily, so now we will try with a new battery. But the babygirl got a kick out of the noice and wouldn't stop kicking her mommy for 30 minutes after the fun sound ;)

Wish List is now online :)

Wow, time flies, sorry for a little silence on the blog - I have began my summer class in Feature writing - hurrayy! A really fun class with sweet people, but also really time consuming.
But today we sat down together and wrote a little wish list - just a little inspiration ;)

Our birth prep is done - we were confirmed that we pick the right hospital - it was fun and a bit scary that time is flying and she is almost here!

Our little bean baby is getting so big and the mom is getting very heavy and very hot in this weather - she kicks and kicks and Saturday we felt a hand with five little fingers pressed out against our hands - so wild and crazy!!!

Cremes and lotions

Not only did we have a pillow war going on - but I am also fighting stretch marks with every means, however, a part of me have read the research and know non of this should help - but the louder voice in my head so wants it work, and I love love love the basq-products they are amazing I think I might continue to use them!

To other pregnant or belly stretch mark fixated individuals here is my short review: Mama bee is OK - not great though, and I love some of the honest products, and the Weleda oil and the almond oil are nice and makes my skin soft and smooth - but the basq-oils and -lotions feels like angels fly down and kisses your belly :)

The pillow war

Weeelll, the stomach is the beginning and fill up a little more than before the pregnancy and it hurts in the back and pelvis, and it's hard to turn around when I go to sleep - so it must of course put human size pillow in our already somewhat filled bed. Martin actually underwent the coming scenario on the way home in the car from a pillow purchase, but I refused to believe that this pillow in any way would tangle with us under double duvet - so I forced myself to keep in our bed the entire first night. Martin should not win this pillow war... But he was right though, the pillow and I almost took the up the whole double quilt and Martin had several choking experiences from our envelope-sheet (yes we sleep like real Americans with a sheet!) - I even think the pillow tried to push both Martin and I out of bed several times that night!

The pillow is, however, nice to lie with on top of the bed alone and is now used for naps (ONLY on top of the covers - not to be choked in the sheets) - but it will never again come back under double quilt!

Baby Books

I bought a tower of baby books and books on childbirth, pregnancy and life as a mother - I just love to sit under my blanket in the reading chair at night and feel little kicks while I read and read. I have been lucky enough to get hold of "Painless Birth" (a Danish book) which probably will be the technique I will (try to) use at birth - but pyhaa I have no idea what I am getting into. However, I have learned to restrain my-self from googling - or no, I still lie 4-5am most mornings and google away, but wise from damage, I don't look at the pictures anymore, as it can boost the tear channels, create panic, and poor Martin must work overtime to keep the peace at home.

Ohh what a wonderful visit from my mom - she brought so many gifts for the little new, lots of smiles, and lots of love!

Sikke et dejligt besøg fra Marianne - hun fik mærket spark! Hun havde så mange gaver med vi blev helt overvældet -tusind tak!

Baby songs

So we wanted to sing and read to the little pea, but ohh what could we remember - so the wonderful Anne Grethe sent us a book with all the old Danish children songs and jingles.

Ja, vi ville så gerne læse lidt og synge for den lille ært i maven - men hvad kunne vi lige huske?! Så den fantastiske Anne Grethe har sendt os en bog med gamle børnesange og remser - tusind tak!
